Immersed in the green realm of vineyards, the small town of Momjan lives the Istrian tradition on its every step, preserved within family taverns, wine cellars and the remains of the rich Momjan area history. The Momjan Castle, once a home of noblemen and counts, proudly stands above the valley of the Argilla brook. Today it is a unique shadowy viewpoint of the hills coloured by olive groves and long rows of grape vines.
Momjan stands out as a wine pearl of Istria – vineyards by some of the most prominent Croatian wine producers - Kozlović and Kabola, Coronica, Degrassi and Prelac, just to name the few, spread across the Momjan area. A wine story in our Villa Momiano, which will serve as an ideal starting point for exploring Istrian wine roads. An unusual combination of the red and white soil has always favoured the vine spreading along the sunbathed hills, developing a new wine variety through centuries, the Momjan Muscat.
